Outgrowing the Old Backyard Our clients had an older, basic metal swing set (as seen in the “oldSwingset.jpg” photo) that their children had completely outgrown. They purchased a massive, beautiful new 3-story cedar playset to transform their backyard into the ultimate play area. However, upon delivery, the reality of the project set in: the playset arrived in several massive, heavy boxes containing over 350 individual wood and metal components, along with a staggering 1,743 individual screws, nuts, washers, and bolts. Facing a confusing instruction manual and a project that would easily eat up an entire weekend (or more), they called Johnny Handy to take over.

Heavy Lifting and Precision Assembly We arrived on-site with a 3-man crew, ready to tackle the massive assembly. Here is how we managed the build:
Site Preparation: Before building the new structure, we safely disassembled and removed the old metal swing set and trampoline to clear the build area. We ensured the ground was level and prepped to provide a safe, stable foundation for the towering new playset.
Organized Construction: With nearly 2,000 pieces of hardware, organization is key. Our team systematically unpacked the boxes, sorted the materials, and began the build using professional-grade power tools to ensure every joint was tightly secured.
Safety First: When building a 3-story structure for children, precision is non-negotiable. We meticulously followed the structural guidelines, ensuring the climbing wall, the tube slide, the swings, and the upper clubhouse were all perfectly squared, flush, and safely anchored.

The flimsy old metal set was gone, replaced by a stunning, sturdy cedar playset that will last the family for years.
